1/ IAMCR WEBINAR ON ENVIRONMENTAL AND SOCIAL JUSTICE: PARTICIPATORY & COMMUNITY COMMUNICATION

The Participatory Communication Research (PCR) and Community Communication and Alternative Media (CAM) Sections hosted a two-day webinar on October 15-16, 2024, on “Environmental and Social Justice: Participatory & Community Communication,” aligning with the IAMCR Singapore 2025 theme, “Communicating Environmental Justice: Many Voices, One Planet.”

Presenters from India, South Africa, Colombia, Mexico, USA, and the UK explored topics like indigenous communication, audiovisual advocacy, participatory water conservation, and meme culture on Delhi's pollution crisis. Methods such as photovoice and indigenous women’s films were also highlighted. Inclusive of early career researchers and those with travel constraints, the panels featured a diverse mix of academics and practitioners. The webinar underscored communication's critical role in addressing global environmental and social challenges.
