At its last general assembly meeting during the 2024 annual conference, IAMCR approved the establishment of four new working groups. They are:

The Communication, Social Justice and Democracy Working Group serves as a platform for critical research on the intersections of social justice, democracy, and communication, exploring diverse global perspectives.

The Inclusive Communication and People with Disabilities Working Group aims to establish a worldwide intellectual research space that can support and connect scholarly knowledge that enhances supportive and inclusive communities for PwDs through an improved understanding of communication.

The Multimodal Communication Research Working Group will focus on innovative and affective modes of knowledge production that move beyond the primacy of words as the only legitimate vehicle for scholarly research pursuits.

The Organisational Communication Working Group is dedicated to scholarship on communication within and across all types of organisational (commercial, governmental, civil society, political parties, etc.) borders.

The new working groups will organise their first sessions at the Singapore 2025 conference.

If your research interests align with the topics covered by these groups or if your work can contribute to their discussions, we encourage you to join and become involved in their activities. To join any of these new working groups log into your IAMCR account and select My Sections and Working Groups from the menu.
